Why I Love a Buyout (or… a Full Takeover, if you will)
There’s something very satisfying about walking into a space and knowing it’s entirely yours. Not shared. Not “mostly yours.” Fully yours.
This is why I love a good group buyout.
When you find that sweet spot venue - just the right size for your group, where you can take over the entire property, you unlock a completely different level of experience. Yes, sometimes it comes with a slightly higher price tag upfront. But the return? It’s not even comparable.
First, let’s talk about the vibe. When you’ve bought out a hotel or venue, you’re not working around someone else’s energy, you’re setting it. The music, the lighting, the pacing, the little moments in between… it all becomes intentional. The entire space can reflect your retreat theme, your brand, your purpose. That cohesion is what people remember.
Then there’s personalization. Rooms can be tailored. Touchpoints can be layered in throughout the property. You’re not limited to a ballroom and a breakout room - you’ve got the whole canvas.
But honestly, one of the biggest reasons I love a buyout? It removes friction for your guests.
This is especially powerful for teams that are remote or hybrid - where people might be meeting their coworkers in person for the very first time. When the entire property is your group, there’s no second-guessing. No “Are they with us?” No awkward moments. Everyone you see is part of your experience.
That creates an immediate sense of belonging. And that’s hard to manufacture any other way.
It’s smoother. It’s more immersive. It feels elevated without needing to try too hard.
So yes, I will almost always advocate for the buyout when it makes sense.
Because when you do it right, it doesn’t just feel like an event.
It feels like a world you created, just for them.
